Reporters Without Borders notes that the authorities yesterday dropped charges of conspiracy and inciting violence against two journalists, Baboucarr Ceesay and Abubaccar Saidykhan, who were detained for four days last month. They were arrested after calling for a peaceful demonstration against the execution of detainees under sentence of death. Sudan – Eritrean journalist freed in Khartoum, Sudanese newspaperwoman detained

The Eritrean editorial writer and journalist, Jamal Osman Hamad, who runs the website adoulis.com, was released by Sudanese security forces in Khartoum today after spending eight weeks in detention. Hamad, who has lived in Sudan for several years, is known for his criticism of the Eritrean president, Issaias Afeworki. He was arrested less than a week after Afeworki visited Sudan on 24 October.
